IMG Models Website Selected as Kentico Site of the Month

Each month Kentico partners such as Bit-Wizards submit their web project case studies to be featured on the Kentico Partner website. As part of this process, each case study is reviewed by the Kentico team to determine if the project submitted meets the “Site of the Month” criteria. For December 2014, Bit-Wizards' project for IMG Models is part of this prestigious list.

IMG is a global leader in sports, fashion, and media operating in more than 25 countries around the world. IMG’s businesses include Events & Media, College, Golf, Tennis, Performance and IMG Academy, Fashion, Models, Clients, Consulting, Licensing, Joint Ventures, and creative management agency Art + Commerce.

The IMG Models project was a complete redesign of the IMG Models website. This project entailed the creation of a new public interface for viewing models, social feeds, and IMG Models contact information. The project also included the development of a media management utility for IMG users to utilize for managing model media. The application contained functionality to allow Casting Agents to create and manage “projects” wherein they manage selected models, comments, and additional project specific information.

Being the world’s largest modeling agency, IMG Models has offices at five global locations, including New York, London, Paris, Milan, and Sydney. This dispersion of personnel and resources presented a challenge for the company in keeping current model data and media available to all offices at one time. The alignment of all company resources and ensured availability of the application was critical to the success of the project.

The project was completed utilizing Kentico CMS for the web application and foundation for all custom functionality. The CMS was extended with custom modules and utilities to accommodate IMG Models’ internal business needs. The Kentico security model was leveraged to secure all internal systems and allow IMG to limit user access to their respective departments.

The application was deployed to Microsoft Azure using Kentico’s native Azure support. Additionally, custom functionality was developed to allow the storage and administration of media directly to Azure storage directly from the application. This integration allows all website content to be stored within Azure storage and delivered via the Azure CDN for a fast and responsive user experience.
