A Big "Thank You" from the Order of Daedalians

Letters of Appreciation are typically awarded for genuine accomplishments, which is not always the case with medals. When Bit-Wizards developed the website for the Order of Daedalians George “Bud” Day Flight, it was a work of passion and honor. We were glad to help out a worthy and honorable cause.

group pictureThe Order of Daedalians is the premier National Fraternity of Military Pilots. It was organized on March 26, 1934 by a representative group of American World War I pilots to perpetuate the spirit of patriotism, love of country, and the high ideals of sacrifice which place service to nation above personal safety or position.

Recently, the national organization was able to create a single website that would fulfill the needs of all the local flight chapters. Flight #61 no longer needed the services of Bit-Wizards, but Flight Captain Charles Heifner, stopped by our office to let us know how much he appreciated our efforts.

thank you letter

Along with a letter of appreciation, Mr. Heifner presented Vince Mayfield, Bryan Soltis, and Michael Whalen, with individual certificates of appreciation, a commemorative coin, and an official Daedalians beer mug!

After the presentation, Vince, a commercial / instrument rated pilot, and Mr. Heifner shared stories of famous military pilots they had read about and met, including Flight #61’s namesake, George “Bud” Day, a resident of Shalimar, Florida and whose daughters attended high school with Vince.

“Your support of our organization is to be commended,” Mr. Heifner wrote in the letter. “By voluntarily contributing time and man-hours at no charge as you established and maintained the website for our Flight, you have also given freely to promote a strong national defense which serves to protect and defend our constitution, our freedom, and our way of life.”
