Project Summary and Client Background
The goal of this project consisted of a completed redesign and development of a new website that would enable the end-user to have a better overall shopping experience across all mobile and desktop devices to include an intuitive checkout process. The long-term goals included increasing online sales and positioning Gospel Light back at a No. 1 rank in their industry.
Now part of the David C. Cook family, Gospel Light is a leader in the publishing of Sunday School Curriculum and Church Ministry Resources. Since David Caleb Cook founded the organization in 1875, David C Cook has reached over one hundred million adults and children around the world with life-changing Sunday school resources. David C. Cook is located in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Gospel Light needed to modernize their web presence and optimize how their customers purchased materials to keep up with their industry trends. When they approached Bit-Wizards, Gospel Light had Ektron (now merged with Epi Server)
in place as their website content management solution (CMS) but needed to migrate quickly to Kentico and use Microsoft Azure for hosting the site. They also were forward-looking and knew that they want to integrate Kentico with their Microsoft Dynamics CRM (Customer Relationship Management) Tool
, move their Enterprise Resource Planning Tool, AS400
to MS Dynamics as well and integrate Firebrand
(title management software) with Kentico.
Gospel Light's internal order process was already in place and well established. Therefore, Bit-Wizards built requirements for this project based on that process and customized the credit card and shipping and tax processes to match accordingly. They also had to do a complete synchronization of their product line; that pulls from their Firebrand database. This sync allows the client to update their product information in one location. Thus, enabling it to populate to various e-commerce sites like Amazon, as well as to their website.
Utilizing the e-commerce functionality within the Kentico platform, Bit-Wizards created a user-friendly shopping and check-out process. This process connects Kentico’s product data source to the Gospel Light internal database (AS400). The Bit-Wizards team worked very closely over the 22-week project with the Gospel Light IT team to ensure data integrity across the systems. To make sure that the new website branding was cohesive and fit the Gospel Light culture, the Bit-Wizards Digital Marketing Team took the time to understand the Gospel Light culture and how to best illustrate it using the design of the site.
The marketing team at Gospel Light consists of four people, the ease of use of the Kentico platform makes it quick for anyone on their team to edit content based on the different needs of the publishing company and its consumers. This solution is currently deployed on Kentico 8.1.
It has been great working with Bit-Wizards, the team is expert and professional. I will absolutely keep you and the team in mind as a resource for additional development. Thank you for your teams' prompt and expert help each, and every time we have needed it.
