Viva wanted to consolidate and organize their production tracking data in a secure central location that can be accessed efficiently by authorized users.
Using Microsoft® technologies, Bit-Wizards developed a complete multi-tiered solution that supports production tracking, reporting, and remote system access.
The Challenge
Viva’s existing process of production tracking was based on a dated database system that only allowed single user access. Production information was scattered between the database and other sources like design drawings and employee email discussions, making the system prone to data loss. Reporting was a time consuming process and required marketing teams to manually track down data and often wait for access to the single user system.
Viva was determined to consolidate all production tracking data in a centralized location providing simultaneous multi-user access to employees and customers worldwide while maintaining security.
The Solution
Bit-Wizards built VPTS (Viva Production Tracking System) into Viva’s existing Active Directory infrastructure using an array of Microsoft® technologies. All production tracking data was stored centrally in a SQL Server database, including images, diagrams and email discussions.
Viva employees were enabled to access and update this information in real-time via client/server WinForms application. Worldwide clients were given access to marketing data through an ASP.NET web application running on Windows Server 2003.
Reporting was automated by generating reports using DataDynamic’s ActiveReports® and using data contained in the VPTS centralized database.
The Result
Reports that once took the marketing team several days to compile can now be generated in seconds by a single user.
Internet connected clients and employees in remote locations worldwide have real-time access to live production and marketing data via web browser.
