Christian S. Young

Software Engineer

From a young age, Christian was engrossed in the world of video games – and how to break them. He was fascinated – and still is – with pushing these games to their limits, in ways the developers did not intend. This fascination continues today, with Christian going as far as investigating source code and even things as mundane as bug reports for some of his favorite software, including video games.

Biography

From a young age, Christian was engrossed in the world of video games – and how to break them. He was fascinated – and still is – with pushing these games to their limits, in ways the developers did not intend. This fascination continues today, with Christian going as far as investigating source code and even things as mundane as bug reports for some of his favorite software, including video games.

In high school, Christian got a taste of coding through HTML, CSS, and a bit of JavaScript. This continued into his college education, with his very first language being C. Although it was confusing at first, he eventually warmed up to the idea of programming in general and started to love it. Eventually, after completing the necessary courses for his Associates in Arts degree, he was finally able to begin getting into the thick of Computer Science.

There were many things that fascinated Christian throughout his education, but nothing stood out more than those that were Software Engineering-oriented. He loved learning about best coding practices, patterns/antipatterns, code optimization, and everything in between. Because of this, and the fact that the Computer Science program allowed three different focuses – one of which being Software Engineering – he happily followed that line of courses and got a taste of the important skill of team-based development.

As a pseudo-final test of his skills and everything he had learned thus far, he took this newfound knowledge to his Capstone course, and ended with a bang. With the semester not even finished yet, he was lucky enough to be referred to Bit-Wizards as an up-and-coming graduate of Computer Science, interested in a Software Engineering position. After a successful interview and graduation, Christian is now a full-time Software Engineer at Bit-Wizards, excited to contribute to their projects, and learn from their best.
