Ava Roby
Infrastructure Engineer
Ava started her tech journey in high school through a web design class, where she learned JavaScript and discovered a passion for technology while tinkering with the insides of her computer at home.
Biography
From there, Ava found a tech support/cybersecurity program at Okaloosa Technical College (OTC) and enrolled as a dual-enrollment student. During that time, she obtained industry-recognized certifications and began networking with professionals and companies in the area. She also attended Bit-Wizards’ ribbon-cutting ceremony when the company moved to its building on Ready Avenue and was immediately intrigued by the company culture. Later, while attending college, she visited again to hear Louis Erickson speak about the current IT industry.
Ava was later recommended by her college instructor to take over teaching a cybersecurity camp at the HSU Educational Foundation, where she also taught coding and FAA drone certification courses.
During an Advisory Committee meeting at OTC, she was offered an internship with the City of Fort Walton Beach’s IT department. During this time, Ava honed her troubleshooting skills and landed her first enterprise IT role with a government contractor. After gaining experience in the field, she saw an opportunity open at Bit-Wizards, decided to take a chance, and officially joined the team as a Wizard.
