Biography

Jennifer developed an interest in technology in early middle school when she taught herself how to write HTML and CSS code from reading educational guides online. She built websites for fun and played with code throughout high school. In college, Jennifer decided to pursue a degree in Information Technology focusing on Networking and Telecommunication Technologies. While working on her bachelor’s degree, she freelanced by building and maintaining websites she also enjoyed working with CPU hardware and software. Jennifer lived in Virginia while earning a bachelor’s degree and is quite proud of this time in her life and her dedication to living remotely and maintaining two full-time jobs.

Working two jobs in Virginia was a challenge but finishing her degree was very important to Jennifer. One of the places she worked was under the Dominion Enterprises umbrella in Norfolk, Virginia. Her job was to prospect and cold-call truck and equipment dealers all over the country and consult them regarding their web-presence (or lack-thereof). Jennifer was very successful in this job. It forced her to face her fear of cold-calling. She was responsible for gaining the trust of business owners so that they could develop a business partnership with her company.  It was extremely challenging, stressful and terrifying sometimes, but in this role, Jennifer developed valuable skills that she has carried with her into other positions. Even though cold-calling truck and equipment dealers isn’t something Jennifer would love to do again, she did learn something about herself; she loves educating people and being an expert, and a trusted advisor and having the answers when a client needs answers.

Jennifer has been involved with the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce almost her whole life. Currently, she is the Chair of the Empower Young Professionals group within the FWB Chamber (2017 term).

Jennifer grew up in the Greater Fort Walton Beach area. Her mom and dad are both past Presidents of the Fort Walton Beach Chamber of Commerce. She moved away for few years, and while she was gone, she graduated in 2010 from the University of West Florida with a degree in IT. Jennifer attended school remotely and during her time away from home she worked for the technology powerhouse Dominion Enterprises in Norfolk, VA. Even though Jennifer left the area for a few years, she loved Fort Walton Beach so much that she decided to move back. And although done with school for now, she has hopes to pursue a master’s degree.

On a personal level, Jennifer met her husband when they both were at Choctawhatchee High School and they married in 2014. Jennifer and Steven have two children and a “Wolfpack” of three big dogs. Their “Wolfpack” consists of a Rottweiler, a Golden Retriever and a German Shepherd. Jennifer adores her wild family!
