Meeting Topic: Balena and Raspberry Pi for Internet of Things (Formerly resin.io)

The explosive growth of Internet of Things (IoT) in recent years has resulted in several criticisms and controversies. Primarily, these include issues such as platform fragmentation, security, and the increased level of effort required to push out updates. Managing fleets of IoT devices requires significant overhead, and that is what Balena hopes to solve. Balena provides the infrastructure necessary to develop, deploy, and manage fleets of connected devices at scale. It is container-based and even includes a free, open-source option featuring several open-source tools. Like Balena, Raspberry Pi has revolutionized the IoT development community by providing small and affordable computers that developers can use to learn how to develop for IoT. This month, we are going to discuss working with Balena and Raspberry Pi and how to setup your own device deployment and management server. You can learn more about Balena here and Raspberry Pi here.
