Louis Erickson, Bit-Wizards’ COO and co-founder, tells conference attendees to “bet on themselves” as part of his presentation on entrepreneurship at the 2nd Annual WAM! (Women and Money) Conference.
Held at the
Sandestin Conference center on January 28th, this day-long event showcased workshops on topics such as organizing your finances, cooking on a budget, making sense of your taxes, investing, and car basics.
Louis spoke during the new youth track added this year for ages 12 through 18 under the YES! (Youth Economic Strategies) program, but the target age didn’t matter. The room was filled with youth and adults looking for ways to improve themselves and their economic outlook.
"When I was asked to do a presentation on entrepreneurship, I think the idea was to tell my story," Louis told the group. "But, to truly help others, I wanted to let them know the most important thing about entrepreneurship is betting on yourself then giving them the tools to help invest in themselves. It was well received, and it was my privilege to help."
Louis, along with
Vince Mayfield, started Bit-Wizards in 2000 and the software company now employs 24 in their Fort Walton Beach, Florida and Memphis, Tennessee offices.
The conference keynote speaker was
New York Times bestselling author Regina Leeds, author of numerous books, including
One Year to an Organized Financial Life,
The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Decluttering, and
The Zen of Organizing.
The conference was presented by
Shelter House with funding from
The Allstate Foundation.
