Trends in Mobility and Windows 8 Applications Lead Topics at 2012 iTen Wired Summit

Beginning with the first conference in 2008, the annual iTen Wired Summit has centered around technology-driven entrepreneurship with a focus on bringing people and ideas together.

Initiated by the Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce in concert with regional economic development partners in Mobile, Baldwin, Santa Rosa, and Okaloosa counties, the primary goal of iTen Wired is to remain competitive in the global economy by embracing the innovation of entrepreneurs across the I-10 corridor of southern Alabama and Northwest Florida. The Greater Pensacola Chamber and ITGULFCOAST are hosting this year’s iTen Wired Summit at the Hilton on Pensacola Beach, September 13th and 14th.

Kicking off this year’s event on Thursday evening from 6:00pm – 8:00pm will be a reception recognizing local honorees of the Inc. 5000 list of the fastest-growing private companies in America. Many local companies have made the list multiple years running, including Bit-Wizards and AppRiver.

The theme of this year’s event centers on important issues related to mobility and cyber security. One track will be devoted to topics around managing and the phenomenal growth of mobile devices within the enterprise. The second track focuses on the next generation of challenges in cyber security and the third track highlights topics of interest to small businesses in the area of mobile marketing and cloud computing.

Bit-Wizards will be sponsoring the Mobility track and provide one of the speakers, Vince Mayfield, the company’s CEO. Vince’s presentation, “The Form Factor Revolution, Mobility, and Windows 8 Metro Applications” will illustrate the significant business opportunity surrounding the Windows 8 Marketplace and Metro Applications for B2C and B2B business. With roughly 93 percent of the total operating system market share, Windows is a platform that reaches into a very large audience — reaching both consumers and enterprises. When Vince attended the annual Microsoft Partner CEO Roundtable in May, one of only twelve partner businesses in the U.S. to be invited, he spoke with Microsoft’s CEO, Steve Ballmer. During the hour-long discussion, the Microsoft CEO spoke on the importance of the upcoming Windows 8 launch saying, “Microsoft is betting the farm on Windows 8 . . . it is the biggest thing since Windows 95 . . . and the most important.”
