The fifth annual Best Companies list appears in the August issue of Florida Trend magazine. One-hundred companies are ranked in small, medium, and large employer categories. For 2013, Bit-Wizards ranked third and is the only software development company in the small employer category. The Best Companies To Work For In Florida program was created by Florida Trend and Best Companies Group and is endorsed by the HR Florida State Council.
"Our Best Companies coverage this year is simple and direct: We went to the employees of the Best Companies To Work For and asked them to tell us what they like most about working where they work," says Mark Howard, executive editor. "The responses are illuminating. Some of them highlight innovative perks, benefits and incentives, while others reveal how these top companies communicate effectively with their employees and empower every worker to make decisions. We hope these ideas are instructive for other companies that are looking to create a Best Companies-type workplace."
To participate, companies or government entities had to employ at least 15 workers in Florida and have been in operation at least one year. Companies that participated underwent an evaluation of their workplace policies, practices, philosophy, systems and demographics. The process also included a survey to measure employee satisfaction. The combined scores determined the top companies and the final ranking. Best Companies Group managed the registration, survey and analysis and determined the final rankings.
Bit-Wizards is honored to again be recognized as one of the best places to work by Florida Trend. Investing in people and relationships is a great business strategy and creates a great work environment. By recruiting and retaining the best designers, engineers, and support staff, Bit-Wizards stands out as one of the best Florida software firms to work for.
Louis Erickson, Chief Operations Officer
In the past year, Bit-Wizards has increased their staff by fourteen and expanded their presence to Austin, Texas. Having outgrown their current location, the fourteen-year-old software and IT company will be moving into a much larger and newly-renovated office space by the end of the year.
"A happier staff is one that is engaged with the company, its products, and its objectives," says Florida Trend Publisher Andy Corty. "Those are the type of employees who carry the message out to clients and help the company grow. It's our pleasure to recognize those great companies and encourage others to join them in building Florida's competitive advantage."
