Laurel Owenby was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Asheville, North Carolina, and knew from a young age that she was creative. She was constantly drawing on napkins, to-go boxes, and the margins of her schoolbooks. As she progressed through school, she was able to experiment with many different traditional art mediums but did not discover her passion for digital art and design until college.
After graduating high school in 2017, she relocated to Pensacola, Florida, to pursue a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in graphic design. She spent this time learning all that she could about her degree and the different areas she could pursue for a career in design. She fell in love with various parts of her newfound career path and tried out as many as her program would allow. She realized she loved branding, illustration, and web design as much as the traditional art she had loved as a child.
Laurel completed her graduate degree in 2023 and accepted a web design position at Bit-Wizards at the beginning of 2024. She continues to learn, grow as a designer, and draw on napkins and to-go boxes whenever an idea comes to her.
