Biography

Growing up surrounded by medical professionals and military veterans, Laura chose to pursue a career as far from blood and guts as possible: an artist. In 2012, she earned a bachelor’s degree in commercial art with minors in graphic design and web development. After graduation, she took a job as a digital media designer at an advertising agency while earning her Masters.

The early days of her career were focused on redesigning sites to meet the emerging responsive web design standards. Her capstone career project was leading a team of five web designers in redesigning a college website. Learning so much about website research, design, and development, her passions shifted from learning about web design to teaching others how to build better websites.

In 2017, Laura started a journey as a college professor, guiding students through the ever-changing world of web design. Her success as a teacher and leader allowed her to become the Chair of her department. After Covid, most classes went online, and the face-to-face aspect of teaching practically vanished. That’s when Laura chose to go switch career paths once more and started building websites again.

In her free time, Laura enjoys spending time outside—especially on the water. On the weekends, she can be found building sandcastles on the beach or on a 100-mile jet ski ride.
