Stephen R. Nixon

Biography

Stephen graduated from Niceville High School in 2002 and Florida State University in 2005 with a degree in History and International Affairs. He went on to Florida State University College of Law, where he earned his Juris Doctorate in 2007. After law school, Stephen served as an Assistant State Attorney for Florida’s First Judicial Circuit. He then went on to co-found The Nixon Law Firm, where he practiced in the areas of criminal defense and family law.

As an attorney, Stephen saw firsthand how poor communication and a lack of accountability caused considerable problems for his clients. The inability to compile an accurate and complete record of interactions between parents led directly to increased legal bills, wasted time in court, and an inadequate co-parenting environment. He saw the need for a service that would allow parents to keep a single, complete, and unalterable record of all communications between parents. He also saw the need for a service that allowed parents involved in domestic violence situations to communicate regarding their children without sharing their actual contact information or location. These realizations led him to create TalkingParents.com, which launched in 2010.

In 2012 Stephen formed Monitored Communications LLC with Vincent Mayfield and Louis Erickson. Combining their expertise and experience in law and technology fields, they set out to improve and expand TalkingParents.com. Stephen also joined the Bit-Wizards team as the Director of Legal.
Originally from Niceville, Stephen has also lived in Tampa and Tallahassee. He currently resides in Niceville with his sons James and Alistair. He enjoys spending time with his boys, especially outside or at the beach, riding mountain bikes and motorcycles, and working on his house.
