For the second year in a row, Bit-Wizards was named to the list of Florida’s Best Companies To Work For. One-hundred companies were recognized in small, medium and large company categories. The rankings — the second annual statewide Best Companies list — appear in the August issue Florida Trend and on FloridaTrend.com. The Best Companies To Work For in Florida program was created by Florida Trend and Best Companies Group and endorsed by the HR Florida State Council.
“This solidifies our belief in retaining the best employees and maintaining strong workplace programs that encourage exceptional customer service,” says
Vincent Mayfield, CEO and co-founder of Bit-Wizards. “This recognition helps confirm what we already knew, but also encourages our team to make Bit-Wizards better and even more competitive.”
To be considered for participation, companies or government entities had to employ at least 15 workers in Florida and be at least a year old. Companies like Bit-Wizards completed a two-part survey about company policies and practices as well demographics. Every team member at Bit-Wizards participated in the survey anonymously by responding to 72 statements on a five-point agreement scale. Questions focused on themes like leadership, planning, culture, role satisfaction, training, pay, benefits and work environment.
This year, the folks from Florida Trend paid a visit to Bit-Wizards to interview and photograph team members for the August issue’s cover story. Candie Mitchell, administrative assistant and official director of morale, described how it feels to work at Bit-Wizards.
“As far as feeling respected and feeling valuable, I do, and I think that trickles down from a CEO or any type of leadership. If they don't treat the 'low people on the totem pole' like they're worth something, nobody else will either. I've had jobs where I've done something that might be more 'important' as a position, and I didn't get the respect that I get here.”
Along with Mitchell, Steve Adams and JD Compton were photographed for the Florida Trend story.
Louis Erickson, COO and co-founder of Bit-Wizards said “One of the main reasons Vince and I started this company was to create a place where innovation and creativity could flourish while adhering to proven engineering methods. I believe this helps to validate that goal.”
Florida Trend magazine reports on business, finance, and public policy in Florida and reaches more than 250,000 business executives, government officials, and civic leaders each month. The story will appear in the August, 2011 issue and on the magazine’s website,
www.FloridaTrend.com.
