The Certifications Held by Our Software Engineering Team & Why They Matter

The Bit-Wizards Software Engineering team holds some of the best certifications in the industry.

The Bit-Wizards Software Engineering team is comprised of highly trained individuals who are each dedicated to expanding their craft. Every member continually looks for opportunities to learn and grow upon their knowledge, skills, and unique expertise. One of the many ways our Engineers stay on the cutting edge of technology is by seeking out the latest, most prestigious certifications in the industry. Here are the top certifications held by our Software Engineering team and why they matter:

Kentico Certified Developer

Nearly all our software engineers are Kentico Certified Developers. This certification is geared towards individuals with experience designing applications and websites on the Kentico platform. In order to pass the Kentico Certified Developer exam, one must have extensive experience with developing, deploying, and maintaining Kentico projects.

This certification distinguishes our Software Engineers from others in the Kentico market, ensuring they are experts on data storage options, data structure design, Kentico development models, Kentico features, data presentation, development environment, Kentico API, Kentico customization, troubleshooting tools and techniques, Kentico deployment, Kentico optimization, Kentico maintenance, and more.

Microsoft Certified Professional Developer

Several members of the Bit-Wizards Software Engineering team are Microsoft Certified Professional Developers (MCPD). This certification shows that a developer or designer has the skills necessary to deploy, build, and operate applications successfully using Microsoft Visual Studio and the Microsoft .NET Framework.

The MCPD designation is recognized worldwide, and by earning it, our Software Engineers have demonstrated their abilities to lead organizations in successfully designing, implementing, and administering business solutions with Microsoft products.

Xamarin Certified Developer

We have several Xamarin Certified Developers on our team. Even if a Software Engineer is an experienced .NET/C# developer (which is what Xamarin uses), some concepts require knowledge specific to the Xamarin environment, which this certification has prepared our Engineers for.

These concepts include new user interfaces (including new controls, layout approaches, multi-touch and gesture recognition), mobile API’s (to leverage the device’s camera, network and wireless communications, and cloud storage), and graphics API’s (for images, animation, and video). Xamarin Certified Developers also get unlimited annual access to new teaching aids so they can stay up to date.

Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineer Expert

Several of our Engineers are also Microsoft Certified DevOps Engineer Experts. This certification demonstrates the ability to combine people, processes, and technologies to continuously deliver valuable products and services that meet end user needs and business objectives. DevOps professionals streamline delivery by optimizing practices, improving communications and collaboration, and creating automation. Software Engineers with this certification must be familiar with both Azure administration and development (and must be an expert in at least one of these areas).

Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate

There are several Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associates on the Bit-Wizards Software Engineering team. This certification is for cloud developers who participate in all phases of development, from requirement definition and design, to development, deployment, and maintenance. Being a Microsoft Certified Azure Developer Associate indicates that our Engineers are proficient in Azure SDKs, data storage options, data connections, APIs, app authentication and authorization, compute and container deployment, debugging, performance tuning, and monitoring. They are qualified to partner with cloud DBAs, cloud administrators, and clients to implement solutions.

Microsoft Certified Solution Developer

Lead Software Engineer at Bit-Wizards, Alberto Medeiros, is a Microsoft Certified Solution Developer (MCSD). This is one of Microsoft’s professional-level programming certifications, indicating Medeiros’ ability to analyze problems and provide software solutions using Microsoft technologies. This certification shows that he is an expert when it comes to designing and developing custom business applications using a variety of Microsoft development tools and technologies.

Certified Scrum Master

Principal Senior Software Engineer at Bit-Wizards, Dave Perkins, is a Certified Scrum Master. Scrum is an Agile framework for developing complex projects, most often software. It allows teams to deliver high-value products by approaching problems iteratively. Being a Certified Scrum Master shows that Perkins has a solid understanding of Scrum terminology, practices, and principles. This course taught him practical ways to apply Scrum to our team and organization, and the certification is globally acknowledged.

Microsoft 365 Certified Security Administrator Associate

Perkins is also a Microsoft 365 Certified Security Administrator Associate. This certification shows that he has the ability to proactively secure Microsoft 365 enterprise and hybrid environments, implement and manage security and compliance solutions, respond to threats, and enforce data governance.

Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate

Senior Software Engineer at Bit-Wizards, Martin Westwood, is a Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate. Azure administrators manage cloud services that span storage, security, networking, and compute cloud capabilities. This certification validates Westwood’s ability to implement, manage, and monitor an organization’s Microsoft Azure environment, including major services related to compute, storage, network, and security.

Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate

Principal Senior Software Engineer at Bit-Wizards, Matthew Parry-Hill is a Microsoft Certified Azure Data Engineer Associate. Engineers holding this certification have expertise integrating, transforming, and consolidating data from various structured and unstructured data systems into structures that are suitable for building analytics solutions. Azure data engineers also help ensure that data pipelines and data stores are high-performing, efficient, organized, and reliable, given a specific set of business requirements and constraints. This certification shows that Parry-Hill can deal with unanticipated issues quickly, minimize data loss, and help stakeholders understand the data.

Microsoft Certified Azure Data Scientist Associate

Parry-hill is also a Microsoft Certified Azure Data Scientist Associate. This means that he can apply data science and machine learning to implement and run machine learning workloads on Azure. Engineers with this certification can plan and create a suitable environment for data science workloads on Azure, run data experiments and train predictive models, manage, optimize, and deploy machine learning models into production, and more.

CompTIA A+ Certificate & CompTIA Network+ Certificate

Our Director of Software Engineering, Jason Graves, holds a CompTIA A+ Certificate and CompTIA Network+ Certificate. Holding a CompTIA A+ Certificate indicates that Graves is prepared to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and understand a wide variety of issues ranging from networking and operating systems to mobile devices and security. This certificate is the only industry-recognized credential with performance-based items to prove that professionals can think on their feet to perform critical IT support tasks on the spot.

Holding a CompTIA Network+ Certificate indicates that Graves is able to troubleshoot, configure, and manage networks. This certificate validates the hands-on skills needed to handle common wired and wireless network devices. It also shows his proficiency in critical security concepts, key cloud computing best practices and typical service models, and newer hardware and virtualization techniques to keep the network resilient.
